Liverpool get the job done at Fulham – and that’s all that matters

Published:

It wasn’t pretty, and it very nearly all went pear-shaped, but Liverpool kept up their Premier League title push with a 2-1 win at Fulham.

It means the Reds are two points above Manchester City with seven games to go. Pep Guardiola’s men still have a game in hand, however.

Premier League title odds

And our traders still don’t think Liverpool will win their first league title since 1990.

We’ve got the Anfield outfit as 2/1 outsiders, with City 4/11 to defend their crown.

Certainly in recent months City have looked the better side. Guardiola’s side have a swagger about them, and they’re frequently swatting teams aside at will.

As for Liverpool, they dropped eight points after a run of four draws in six games and people thought the Merseysiders had blown it.

But they bounced back with victory over Burnley.

Winning ugly

That game suggested the Reds’ have become a little suspect at the back, though, and that they’re still feeling the pressure. The Clarets scored twice in a 4-2 loss.

And a clanger by Allison at Craven Cottage almost cost the Reds another vital two points.

But despite scares in both matches, Liverpool came through to win. At this stage of the season, that’s the only issue which matters.

They say champions can win ugly, and without playing well. Liverpool are certainly making hard work of things right now.

The Reds haven’t convinced our traders either, but Klopp won’t mind. As long as his Reds keep winning, that’s all he’ll be concerned about.
