Royal or wacky? The names being backed for Royal arrival

2019 Royal Baby

With the expected birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Baby right around the corner, our traders have revealed some of the wackiest names punters are placing bets on.

Piers has seen some backing at odds of 200/1 and there has already been £12 staked on the name being chosen by the couple.

Similarly, Boris has received backing from punters, with Ladbrokes currently set to lose £1000 were Harry and Meghan to choose that name for their first born, currently priced at 250/1.

Winston and Nigel have also seen activity, with two punters placing small stakes on Nigel at 200/1. The strangest of all comes in the form of a 500/1 shot, with one punter placing a £2 bet on Brexit to be the name of the Royal Baby.

Diana and Elizabeth are still the front-runners at 6/1, with Albert and Philip leading the way for male names at 12/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “If you thought all the money in the Royal Baby name betting was on the frontrunners, then think again. A handful of punters clearly reckon Harry and Meghan will go with something completely out there – and Piers is something of a popular pick at the bottom of the market.”
