Boleyn farewell ridiculously close to call, according to fans

West Ham welcome Manchester United to Upton Park this evening for what will be the Hammers’ farewell match at the famous Boleyn Ground.

The Irons take up residency at the Olympic Stadium next season and will hope to give their fans one last chance to cheer as the Red Devils come to town.

With the Old Trafford club still in the hunt for Champions League football and the Irons desperate to sign off in style it promises to be a thrilling encounter, but one that’s proved to be ridiculously close to call according to our latest poll.

Ahead of tonight’s clash we asked our loyal Twitter followers to have their say on how tonight’s game will pan out.

Man United have edged it, with 38 per cent expecting an away win with the Hammers just touched off.

A total of 37 per cent backed the departing hosts to get the party started by taking all three points in this last hurrah.

Of course this means 25 per cent expect an anticlimactic draw and with such divided opinion this may not be the worst shout at odds of 12/5.

Louis van Gaal’s men go into the game as slight favourites at 29/20, while it’s 2/1 the Hammers give next year’s 52,000+ season ticket holders cause for optimism ahead of the new campaign.
