World Cup 2022: Brazil vs Switzerland odds, preview and tips

Brazil justified their status as favourites in the World Cup winner odds with a 2-0 victory over a Serbia team that finished top of their qualifying group ahead of Portugal.

Richarlison scored both goals and his second was an early contender for goal of the tournament ahead of the clash with Switzerland who had a more workmanlike 1-0 win against Cameroon.

The Brazil winning odds are 4/9 to beat the Swiss, who are 6/1 to cause an upset or 13/4 to draw as they did in the group stage in Russia four years ago.

Brazil vs Switzerland form

The five-time winners had 23 efforts on goal and twice struck the woodwork against an unadventurous Serbia side, who failed to have a shot on target, unlike the Brazilians who had nine.

However, head coach Tite has a major injury concern over Neymar who limped off with an ankle injury late on and looked visibly upset in the dug-out.

Brazil’s doctor revealed on Friday that Neymar and defender Danilo, who also sustained an ankle injury, will miss the rest of the group stage.

Brazil coasted through their South American qualifying group unbeaten with 14 wins and three draws and they have lost just two of their 49 competitive matches under Tite, a defeat by Belgium at the 2018 World Cup and last year’s Copa America final loss to arch-rivals Argentina.

The Swiss are unlikely to pose a threat to Brazil who catch the eye at 11/8 to win to nil in the World Cup odds or 6/5 for a victory and under 3.5 match goals.

In our #GetAPrice section, Brazil to win either half, over 1.5 goals in the match and the favourites to keep a clean sheet also appeals at 9/4 in the World Cup odds.

Brazil vs Switzerland head to head

Although the Selecao are overwhelming favourites, the teams drew 1-1 in their opening group game at the Rostov Arena at the last World Cup.

A share of the spoils and goals at both ends is available at 9/2 in the World Cup betting and we go 7/1 on the same 1-1 scoreline.

Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring for Brazil in the 20th minute, but Steven Zuber levelled early in the second half. A goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is 15/2, while Brazil HT/Draw HT is 16/1.

Four of the nine meetings between the nations have been drawn and Brazil have lost two and drawn one of the last four, so the Swiss are at least on a roll in recent encounters.

Brazil vs Switzerland team news

Brazil have plenty of other attacking options in the absenceof Neymar such as Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Rodrygo and Pedro, but Richarlison, now 11/2 in the World Cup top scorer odds, is expected to lead the line.

Danilo’s injury means Tite has a selection headache for the right-back spot.

The Swiss lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Cameroon, but head coach Murat Yakin may switch to a 4-3-3 when his side face the Brazilians.

Goalscorer odds

In the absence of Neymar, the favourite to score the opener at 10/3 is Richarlison who is 5/4 in the any-time market. The Tottenham striker is 6/1 to bag another double or 13/5 to outscore the opposition.

Vinicius Jr was a major threat down the left wing against Serbia and it would be no surprise if he opened the scoring at 11/2 or found the net at 21/10, the same odds as fellow winger Raphinha.

Breel Embolo scored the only goal for the Swiss against Cameroon, the country of his birth, and was denied a second by a brilliant reaction save from Andre Onana.

Embolo is 10/1 to draw first blood or 7/2 to get on the scoresheet in our Brazil vs Switzerland betting tips.
