Celebrities, Tiger’s return and Paris head our 2018 Ryder Cup hitlist

The anticipation is rife ahead of the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris.

Can Europe regain the famous old trophy they relinquished at Hazeltine two years ago?

Or will the United States pick up a first win on European soil since success at The Belfry in 1993.

The hosts are 11/8 to triumph against 8/11 for the visitors.

We’ve taken a look at three things to look forward to ahead of the 2018 competition.

The Celebrity Match

The Ryder Cup attracts some of the biggest names in sport and showbiz.

And before the main event begins on Friday, a select few will get the chance to take to the greens themselves in the Celebrity Match on Tuesday.

Andriy Shevchenko, Bill Murray and Michael Phelps were all among the participants two years ago.

This time around Luis Figo, Alessandro Del Piero and actor Jamie Dornan will be representing Europe.

Former US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice is among the names confirmed for the US.

First Ryder Cup in France

Part of the attraction of this year’s Ryder Cup is its location.

Never before has the most famous golfing competition in the world been held in France or Paris.

In fact, this is the only the second time a European-held event has been hosted outside of the British Isles.

Le Golf National represents a unique challenge to players and is considered among the top five courses on the European Tour.

Expect driving winds, misplaced tee shots and several trips to the water.

Tiger’s roar is back

Catch any of the weekend’s Tour Championship from East Lake?

If you did, you’ll know Tiger Woods is back.

The golfing legend shot a final-round 71 to land his 80th PGA Tour victory and his first since 2013.

His victory won’t only have invigorated supporters of Team US – as shown by the Happy Gilmore-like scenes at the 18th in Georgia.

It will also have sent chills down the spine of Europe ahead of Friday’s start in Paris.
