Man City's 2024/25 Champions League starting 11
Ederson starts in goal for Man City, but whenever he isn't able to play or Guardiola fancies a change, Stefan Ortega will fill in and he's a more that suitable deputy.
Rico Lewis or Matheus Nunes with John Stones, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov trading minutes across the remaining three positions in defence.
Rodri would have started as the six, given that he's Man City's most important player, but now that he's injured Mateo Kovacic and Ilkay Gundogan are the ones to fill in.
Two of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva fill the final two spots in the middle of the park, with Mateo Kovacic able to play there too if he isn't in the six.
Erling Haaland is the number nine whenever he's fit, given that Julian Alvarez has now left for Atletico Madrid, with Savio, Omar Marmoush, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku, as well as the aforementioned Silva and Foden, able to play out wide.
Man City's Champions League odds
As is the case with the Premier League, Guardiola's Man City are losing ground in terms of the odds to win the Champions League come May 2025, with the final taking place in Germany.
They've been priced with worse odds than Real Madrid and Bayern Munich with odds of 5% of winning Europe's biggest club competition this year. They're also behind the favourites Liverpool according to the latest odds.
Man City's Champions League fixtures
Man City kicked off their 2024/25 Champions League campaign on September 18 with a home game against Inter Milan, the team they beat to win the competition just over a year ago, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Next up, on October 1, City thrashed Slovan Bratslava 4-0 away from home, with a game against Sparta Prague taking place at the Etihad 22 days later, ending in another convincing win, this time with the score being 5-0 to Guardiola's side.
The fourth game of City's 24/25 UCL campaign saw them travel to Portugal to face Sporting Lisbon on November 5, getting thrashed by soon-to-be Man United manager Ruben Amorim. That came before Feyenoord travelled to Manchester to face the reigning Premier League champions on November 26. Things started well for City, who went 3-0 up, but the 2023 holders managed to choke that lead, with the game ending in a 3-3 draw.

Another of the tricker games for City in the UCL 'league phase' saw them travel to Italy to face Juventus on December 11, with that game ending in a 2-0 loss for the English side. That loss came before Guardiola and co continued their European fixtures in 2025 with another away tie, this time in France against PSG on January 22, where they lost 4-2.
The club finished their group phase games against Club Brugge, with that game taking place on January 29 at the Etihad Stadium and ending in an important 3-1 win.
The playoff round saw City drawn against Real Madrid, with Guardiola's side losing the first leg 3-2 at home, giving them a serious uphill battle to quality for the competition's last 16. The Cityzens then lost the second leg 3-1, getting eliminated from the competition at this early stage.
