Czech Republic v England betting tips: Qualified Three Lions looking ahead
Published:
England hope to put the disappointment of their lacklustre goalless draw with Scotland behind them as they go head to head with Czech Republic on Tuesday in a battle between the top two in Group D.
Both teams have already qualified for the knockout stage thanks to favourable results on Monday although the Czechs would go through as group winners if they avoid defeat.
A share of the spoils is priced at 21/10 but let’s look at some of the other markets and odds for our Czech Republic v England betting tips.
Match Odds
England are the 4/6 favourites to win but there is an argument the Three Lions should not try too hard as a victory will ensure a meeting with the runner-up in Group F, either France, Portugal or Germany.
The runner-up in England’s pool will face the second-placed team in Group E which could be one from either Spain, Sweden, Slovakia or Poland, so a draw would be a perfect result for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Czech Republic in Euro 2020 qualifying two years ago, so an England win to nil is 7/5 or we go 19/10 and 19/4 on a victory and over 2.5 and 3.5 goals respectively.

An unlikely repeat of that 5-0 scoreline is 70/1 but it should not be forgotten that the Czechs beat England in the return in Prague and are priced at 19/4 to win at Wembley.
The Czechs played better against Scotland than England did and but for wayward finishing in the opening 20 minutes could have been out of sight in the 1-1 draw against Croatia.
With England lacking motivation to win, another goalless draw is available at 13/2 or 0-0 at the break for a third successive match is 27/20.
Talking Tactics
England’s preparations have not been ideal after Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were forced to self-isolate following a positive Covic-19 test for Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour, their Chelsea team-mate, and they will miss the match.
Southgate’s men looked a shadow of the side that took the game to Croatia in the first 20 minutes of their 1-0 victory during Friday’s 0-0 draw with Scotland and the coach may decide to freshen things up by starting with the likes of Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho now England are through to the last 16.
The Three Lions only had a John Stones header which hit the upright to show for their efforts in a match which saw skipper Harry Kane replaced by Marcus Rashford with 16 minutes remaining.
The Czechs deployed a 4-2-3-1 against Croatia, who were outplayed in the first half but dominated after the break.
Goalscorer Odds

Patrik Schick scored his third goal of the tournament at Hampden Park and is 7/1 to break the deadlock for a third successive game or 7/2 to get on the scoresheet.
Sterling opened the scoring against the Czechs more than two years ago and is 11/2 to repeat the trick, 11/4 to score or 22/1 to bag two or more goals.
