England Women v Austria Women betting tips: Comfortable start expected for hosts
Published:England Women v Austria Women betting tips, preview and odds
The Women’s European Championship is just around the corner and all eyes will be on a packed Old Trafford for the tournament opener between hosts England and Austria.
England boss Sarina Wiegman knows how to get over the line in a home competition after guiding Netherlands to the trophy in 2017 and expectations are high for her first match this time around.
The Lionesses are expected to make a roaring start as hot favourites as we pick out some England Women v Austria Women betting tips.
England Women v Austria Women form
England’s 4-0 victory against Switzerland in their final warm-up game means they head into the Austria clash on the back of an impressive unbeaten record.

Since losing to Canada in April 2021, England have won 12 of their 14 matches, scoring 84 goals in the process and letting in just three.
They bagged 18 in two games against North Macedonia and 30 home and away against Latvia but more importantly during that run Germany, Netherlands and Belgium have been swept aside while Canada and Spain were held to draws.
Germany, Netherlands, Canada and Spain are all higher up the FIFA rankings than eighth-placed England.
So, the Lionesses are in fine form and they are 1/6 to make a winning start with the draw 6/1 and Austria 18/1 in the England Women v Austria Women betting tips.

Austria too have plenty to be positive about as they approach the Euros despite not being fancied to make a dent in the business end of the tournament.
If you look at their last 13 fixtures, they boast 10 wins and one draw with one of their two defeats coming at the hands of England in World Cup qualifying – 1-0 at the Stadium Light last November.
Austria also had some shooting practice against the Latvians and North Macedonians while big defeats were dished out to Luxembourg, Switzerland, Romania and Montenegro as well.
England Women v Austria Women head to head
The recent meetings between England and Austria do not ring many alarm bells for the hosts.
They posted a 3-0 friendly win in 2017 and the same again in 2018 before the World Cup qualifying clash in Sunderland late last year.
Ellen White scored the only goal of the game on her 100th appearance as her side continued to boss their group. They have a 100 per cent record on the road to Australia and New Zealand next year.

White, who is her country’s all-time top scorer, is 14/5 to bag the game’s opening goal and 4/1 to net at least twice.
Just under 10,000 fans were on Wearside when White secured the points but with considerably more flocking to Old Trafford for this tournament opener, a well-supported England team can lay down a marker.
They are 8/13 to be winning at half-time and full-time and 8/11 to win to nil in the England Women v Austria Women betting tips.
Alternatively, in our #GetAprice section, England are 5/2 to win both halves, score at least three time and keep a clean sheet.
However, England have tended to do the bulk of their scoring after the break and were drawing at half-time in their last three wins, so 27/10 on Draw HT/England FT looks an interesting prospect.
Women’s Euro 2022 outright betting
England are second favourites and can be backed at 4/1 to be crowned champions. Spain are at the top of the pile at 3/1 with France 11/2 and Netherlands 6/1.
Wiegman’s Lionesses are 4/11 to win Group A with Norway (9/4) expected to follow them through while Austria are 16/1 and Northern Ireland 66/1.
White shares favouritism with France forward Marie-Antoinette Katoto in the tournament top-scorer betting with both players available at 6/1.
An England-White double on the tournament winner and top scorer returns 20/1.
