World Cup 2022: England v France betting tips and odds

It’s all about the box-office match-ups at the World Cup now and England v France is one blockbuster to look forward to.

In one corner, the most prolific team from the group stage and in the other, the holders featuring the tournament’s top scorer tipped to be the best on the planet before too much longer.

Of course, there’s more to the Three Lions than their fearless forwards while French flyer Kylian Mbappe has an A-list supporting cast helping him out, so we’ve taken a look at the latest World Cup odds to put together our England v France betting tips.

Three and easy for England

The most impressive thing about England’s victory over Senegal in the last 16 was how straightforward they made it look.

There were some nervy moments while the score remained 0-0 but after Jordan Henderson’s opener and Harry Kane’s first goal of the tournament a few minutes later, there was only going to be one winner.

Bukayo Saka added the gloss to make it 12 goals in four games for an England team heading into the last-eight showdown on a high.

But they also go in as underdogs. They are 2/1 to win in 90 minutes, while the French are 5/4 in the World Cup betting and the draw is available at 19/10. The Three Lions are 11/10 to go through and it’s 4/6 on Les Bleus advancing to the semi-finals.

Mbappe the main man

France superstar Mbappe struck out on his own in the race for the Golden Boot with a double against Poland taking his tournament tally to five.

The PSG forwatd is a worthy favourite to finish as the World Cup’s top scorer, but he faces stiff competition to top the scoring charts in Qatar, even from within his own team.

Olivier Giroud has three goals and is now his nation’s all-time leading marksman with 52 to his name.

Against England, Mbappe is 7/2 to break the deadlock, 13/8 to score at any time and 9/1 for two or more, with Giroud 5/1, 11/5 and 14/1 in the same markets.

Giroud scored first against the Poles but it was Mbappe who made sure of the result with two stunning strikes late in the game. He looks almost unstoppable and we expect a faster start from him against Harry Maguire, John Stones and co.

One option that catches the eye for England v France betting tips at a bigger price is Mbappe to score in both halves at 18/1.

The England defence has been breached just once from open play and that was back in their opening game against Iran, but Mbappe and his team-mates are on a threat level way above USA, Wales and Senegal.

Go for goals

At the other end, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford are on three goals apiece but Kane going up against his club keeper Hugo Lloris adds extra spice.

Kane has some way to go to match his six-goal haul from Russia 2018 but now he’s off the mark he will fancy his chances. He is 7/4 at anytime, 4/1 for the first goals and 10/1 to score two or more.

The Three Lions have been spreading the joy around the team and eight players have been on target.

It makes sense to go for goals in this one and France are 4/1 to win with both teams scoring, England are 11/2 and a draw with the net rippling at both ends is 10/3.

If that stalemate appeals, then take a look at this one going all the way. Both teams are 10/1 to go through to the semis after winning a penalty shoot-out.
