Flurry of bets placed on Brexit during Cameron’s trip to Brussels
Published:
An incredible 73 per cent of bets placed on the EU Referendum result during David Cameron’s trip to Brussels favour Brexit.
A run of bets, including several four-figure wagers has brought the odds of a ‘Leave’ outcome in to 15/8, from 2/1, with a ‘Remain’ result still the favourite at 2/5.
We’ve also opened a book on the declared position of several undecided Cabinet Ministers following Cameron’s return. Boris Johnson is a heavy odds-on favourite to back Remain at 1/4, with Michael Gove also expected to follow suit at 1/2.
Sajid Javid is considered the most likely Eurosceptic of those yet to show their hand at odds of 1/2. It’s 6/4 he changes his mind and endorses a pro-European vote.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Cameron’s trip to Brussels has brought Brexit backers to the fore once again. With negotiations in the home straight it’s one way traffic for a Leave outcome.”
He added: “Boris may be reportedly sitting on the fence but the odds firmly favour him falling down on the Remain side sooner rather than later.”
