Fognini poses Murray threat – but Brit should still come through

Despite some pre-tournament concerns over form and a hip injury, it’s so far so good for Andy Murray at Wimbledon.
But after seeing off Alexander Bublik and Dustin Brown in straight sets, things do crank up a notch from here on in.
Murray’s next opponent is Fabio Fognini, who should prove no walkover at number 29 in the rankings.
What’s more, the Italian and Murray are 3-3 in their head-to-head meetings.
Fognini has even beaten the world number one this year, doing so at the Rome Masters.
So the Italian could be worth a speculative punt at 7/1, although it must be noted that the duo have never met on grass.
Murray is the 1/14 favourite, and even if he was fully fit and in great form, there’s no value there.
The Scot is a far more appealing 8/11 to win in straight sets for the third successive match, although 3-1 will be a popular alternative at 11/4.
And if you fancy this game to be one of those classic Murray comebacks, then Fognini is 7/2 to bag the opening set.
Murray is last on centre court today, after Heather Watson versus Victoria Azarenka and Rafael Nadal against Karen Khachanov.
Watson will have to pull out all the stops to see off her two-time US Open champion opponent.
But she’s impressed so far, and goes into this contest as a very credible 7/4 outsider.
While there may be an upset in store for Azarenka, such a result looks almost impossible for Nadal.
The 10-time French Open champion has looked imperious so far, and is 8/13 to win in straight sets.
And finally, Jo Konta is back in action too after her thrilling encounter with Donna Vekic and is 1/7 favourite to see off Maria Sakkari.
