Lyon v Bayern Munich Betting Tips: Lewandowski to crush Lyon’s dream?

Robert Lewandowski - Bayern Munich

Lyon will need to pull off a third Champions League miracle in tonight’s semi-final if they’re to deny Bayern Munich a heavyweight clash with Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon on Sunday.

Rudi Garcia’s men have already dumped out Juventus and Manchester City in the knockout stages. Now they face their toughest test so far against a Bayern side who put eight past Barcelona on Friday.

Our traders aren’t giving them much of a chance to win the tournament at 20/1, but then the numbers-crunchers wrote them off in the last-16 and the quarter-final too, so who knows what could happen.

How will tonight’s second semi-final go? We’ve previewed the match in our Lyon v Bayern Munich Betting Tips.

Match Odds

Bayern have won 13-in-a-row since the German season resumed in mid-May. That’s nothing short of remarkable, and it’s difficult to see them not taking that tally to 14 this evening.

The bods on the trading floor agree and make the Bundesliga side heavy 1/11 favourites to progress to the final, with 2/9 available on them to win inside 90 minutes.

There’s little to no juice in those odds, so it could be worth doubling up with the goal markets to find a more tempting proposition if you think Bayern will advance.

Hans-Dieter Flick’s men have scored four or more in each of their last four matches, and we go 21/20 for them to win with Over 3.5 Goals in the match.

Their opponents Lyon edged past Man City courtesy of luck, clinical finishing and Pep Guardiola showing them too much respect on the night.

While they’re unlikely to make it through at 6/1 or win in normal time at 10/1, they are very much capable of putting a dent in the scoreline. Bayern to Win and Both Teams to Score is 13/10.

Talking Tactics

Neither side is expected to make any changes following their respective quarter-final victories last week.

Moussa Dembele scored twice for Lyon against Man City but is likely to remain on the bench with Karl Toko Ekambi continuing up-front alongside Memphis Depay in a 3-5-2 formation.

Bayern could welcome back Benjamin Pavard at right-back, although Joshua Kimmich should retain his place, which means Thiago and Leon Goretzka will remain in midfield.

Goalscorer Odds

No-one is catching Robert Lewandowski as this season’s Champions League top-scorer. The Polish hitman scored his 14th of this season’s competition against Barcelona on Friday and is expected to add to that tally again here.

He’s an incredible 3/10 on to score at any point in the contest, while 13/8 says he grabs his fourth brace of the tournament. Alternatively, he’s 21/20 to outscore the opposition.

Serge Gnabry has also been in fine form on the continent and is 21/20 to find the net, while Philippe Coutinho is 11/2 to Score Last in a repeat of his late, late show against Barca.

Lyon’s hopes rest on the shoulders of Depay. The ex-Manchester United man has seven goals in this season’s competition and is a 14/5 chance to make that eight this evening.

Four of the last eight goals Bayern have conceded have been via defenders or own-goals, and we make rampaging wing-back Maxwell Cornet 5/1 to continue that trend.
