Chelsea v Liverpool Betting Tips: Can the Reds bounce back in the cup?

| 03.03.2020

The midweek FA Cup fifth round action continues tonight as Chelsea take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Can the Reds shake off their Watford hangover and return to winning ways or will Chelsea twist the knife and leave Jurgen Klopp’s men licking their wounds?

Judging by their previous meetings this season, it should be a tasty one – Both Teams to Score is at 4/7.

Match Odds

Chelsea will be desperate to make home advantage count and are8/5 to win in the match betting.

Frank Lampard’s side have scored two goals in both their FA Cup outings so far and are 23/20 for Over 1.5 goals.

But with Wembley in sight, Klopp may shuffle his pack and pick some of his more experienced players.

Our traders have Liverpool at 17/20 to qualify with the Reds at12/1 to win in Extra Time.

Talking Tactics

Liverpool have opted for youth teams in their previous cup outings but could field some of their first team here. Adrian could be between the sticks, and Joe Gomez may return to the defence.

James Milner looks set to captain the side but whether that’s from left back or midfield is still unknown. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should feature alongside the impressive youngster Curtis Jones.

Chelsea will be without some of their key men through injury including Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic.

And with Calum Hudson-Odoi still unavailable, Lampard may keep with his 3-4-2-1 formation from the weekend draw with Bournemouth.

Olivier Giroud Chelsea
Giroud could be vital to Chelsea’s fortunes

Kepa should start in goal though, and Willian could step in for Pedro. Olivier Giroud may retain his place up front and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could get a taste of first team action following injury.

Goalscorer Odds

Lampard will be banking on his strikers stepping up in this one, Giroud is 7/5 to score anytime, a price matched by Michy Batshuayi too.

Mason Mount may retain his place and is 9/1 to break the deadlock. Ross Barkley could be at the centre of things and is 5/1 anytime.

The away side’s sharp shooters could be in attack with Mohamed Salah at 7/5 anytime. Divock Origi is at 13/5, with Takumi Minamino at 14/5 to score his first Liverpool goal.

After netting in the third and fourth rounds already, Jones is 16/5 to get on the scoresheet once more.
