Chesterfield throw a lifeline to League Two chasers

Chesterfield are still heavy betting favourites at 1/1 to win League Two this season, but they have given some encouragement that their advantage at the top can be caught after failing to win at home to Bradford.

Jordan Bowery needed to step off the bench to score a stoppage-time leveller in the 2-2 draw, which moved them seven points clear at the head of League One.

However, with second-placed Wycombe not in action, they have the chance to make a decent dent in the gap at the top when playing their game in hand.

League Two top scorer Adam Le Fondre was on target again elsewhere in the division as his 17th goal of the season helped Rotherham to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Stockport.

The win cuts Rotherham’s deficit on Chesterfield to nine points and they are 8/1 to win the title this season.

All of the top three teams are in action again in the next round of League Two fixtures and will hoping to secure victories that could shake up the current standings.

Chesterfield’s betting odds are 4/6 to win at Stockport, who find themselves propping up the table at present while also having played more games than many of their rivals nearest to them in the league.

Rotherham are also on the road as they face a tough game at Port Vale.

Port Vale are currently well in the promotion mix and are 6/4 to win at home, with Rotherham 17/10 to leave with the three points.

Wycombe are the only ones of the trio to be fortunate to have a home game as they host Cheltenham.

League Two betting odds have Wycombe at 4/5 to beat Cheltenham.
