Could Gareth Bale fire Tottenham into the Champions League?

Gareth Bale is edging towards re-joining Tottenham Hotspur with our traders suspending betting on a move being finalised before the end of the transfer window.

Having been as short as 1/6 in the betting on Tuesday, it’s now thought Bale is closer than ever to returning to the Lilywhites since his move to Real Madrid in 2013.

If the deal were to happen it would be a massive boost to Jose Mourinho’s side who are 9/2 to finish in the top four.

Spurs started slowly with defeat to Everton in their Premier League opener, and after becoming a hero in the white half of North London, Bale could have a similar impact again.

Tottenham allegedly sounded out the prospect of a loan move for Bale after negotiating a deal to sign Madrid full back Sergio Reguilon.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Bale could be Mourinho’s get out of jail card and it looks as though a return to Tottenham WILL go ahead in the coming weeks as we’ve closed the book.”

The Spurs gaffer lamented the number of attacking injuries he had last season but bringing in a player of Bale’s calibre will mean he’s well stocked in forward areas.

If they can sign a striker too, Tottenham could really be hot on the heels of Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for the top four.

Could Bale be about to set the Premier League alight for a second time?
