Man City v Liverpool Betting Tips: Champions Liverpool to roar on?

Jordan Henderson - Liverpool

Liverpool take a trip down the M62 to face the team they just dethroned in what could be a cracker tonight.

Manchester City will be licking their wounds after relinquishing their back-to-back league titles and may be at their most dangerous.

But the new champions, who are 11/8 to retain the title in 2020/21, won’t want a blot on their copybook here after winning their first league title in 30 years.

Who’s getting the nod? We’ve got the breakdown ahead of tonight’s clash…

Match Odds

Liverpool come into this one at 5/2 and with no other cup distractions this season, the Reds may go hunting for City blood.

But the away side are winless and goalless in their last four away games across all competitions, which may give Pep Guardiola’s side the edge.

Despite the hosts now turning their attentions to the cup competitions, City are 19/20 to rain on Liverpool’s parade and bag the three points.

There have been two draws in their last six meetings, and you can find another stalemate at 27/10.

Talking Tactics

Guardiola may rest some of his star names after progressing to the FA Cup semi final last weekend.

This could see Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling make way for the likes of Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Rodri.

The suspension of Fernandinho and injury to Sergio Aguero could mean Gabriel Jesus starts up front, while Eric Garcia returns from concussion.

Liverpool will hope their post-title winning sore heads have cleared for this one and could name an unchanged side from the thrashing of Crystal Palace.

Goalscorer Odds

Mohamed Salah has scored just two away goals all season, but he is a man for the big occasion. The Egyptian forward is 17/10 to score anytime, while Divock Origi is chalked up at 16/5 to notch.

Roberto Firmino has had a knack for scoring in big away games this season and is 9/1 to break the deadlock.

City’s Jesus is 13/8 anytime, while Riyad Mahrez is 11/5 to continue his hotstreak. It won’t be a 0-0 will it? We go 14/1 for Under 0.5 goals in the 90 minutes.
