Wolves v Liverpool: Bellamy to return to fire Reds to victory

Published:

Liverpool may have been struggling for goals since Luis Suarez began his suspension, but high on confidence after beating Manchester United in the FA Cup and with Steven Gerrard back playing regularly, they should have little trouble beating Wolves.

Kenny Dalglish has watched his team struggle in the Premier League in the past month, managing just one goal from their three fixtures in the top flight in January.

However, Wolves should prove the ideal opposition to face to improve this toothless streak as Mick McCarthy’s team have failed to keep a single clean sheet in their past 19 fixtures.

Meanwhile, Wolves have also been pretty lacklustre at home by taking just one point from their last four games at Molineux and this form has seen them slip alarmingly into the relegation places.

Liverpool will know that their results need to pick up instantly if they are to remain in contention for a top-four finish this season and 8/11 looks a reasonable price in the Premier League odds that they win at Wolves.

Wolves have currently failed to beat any of the top eight teams in the Premier League standings either home or away and have been beaten at home by Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle.

Although the games against their fellow relegation candidates will have a greater bearing on where they finish this season, this form against the top clubs will need improving.

Wolves are 4/1 to beat Liverpool and 5/2 to gain a decent draw to help with their battle against relegation.

Craig Bellamy is likely to return to the Liverpool starting line-up after starting on the bench against Manchester United and so has to be considered at 9/2 to be the first goalscorer, with Gerrard always a popular option at 5/1.
