Bull reveals Pedro Neto fears

I’m worried about Pedro Neto and his future though, to be honest. He’s absolutely flying at the moment and if it were up to me, I’d pen him down for another five-year deal and pay him what he wants, because I really do think he’s that good. The talent and skill he’s got, it’s unbelievable.

The understanding he’s got with his team-mates now, as well…it’s really good to see. He set up the goal against Villa and it was basically a carbon copy of the one against Luton from a couple of weeks ago. It’s all coming from Neto, basically. He gets to the ball quickly, takes his man on, he got the goal against Luton but against Villa it was Hwang, bang, goal. He’s a tricky, tricky player.

Will Wolves be able to keep him? I really don’t know. I think Arsenal are probably the only side he’d go to. Liverpool and Man United have got lots of options in that area, but it’s probably the only position on the pitch for Arsenal which needs strengthening, because they’re lost on that right-hand side when Bukayo Saka isn’t playing. They looked lost against Man City on that side without him.

Look, fingers crossed Wolves can keep him and build the team around him, starting in January. But I am worried he might go, if I’m being honest. I don’t know how much he’d go for, though. I’ve seen Ruben Neves go, I’ve seen Raul Jimenez leave. I’d put Pedro Neto somewhere between £50-70m, definitely with the talent he’s got. He’s capable of scoring, creating chances for both himself and his team-mates. He’s so skilful, he’s got the pace. To slot into that Arsenal side, I think it’d be easy for him.

Bull backs Spurs to win Premier League

Wolves beating Man City and then Arsenal doing the same – talk about putting the cat among the pigeons in the title race! It’s a free-for-all this year. I don’t think they’re anywhere near as prolific this season, Man City. They started the season strongly, but they’ve gone off the boil, and I feel like teams are starting to suss out how they play.

We stopped Erling Haaland from playing. You stop Haaland and you stop City. You didn’t see him for large periods in Sunday’s game against Arsenal. He was starved of possession by those two defenders, who did a really good job of dealing with him.

It’s going to be a tough one to call this year. Arsenal tend to falter towards the end of seasons. They should have won it last season and they missed out on the Champions League the season before that. They haven’t got the you-know-whats to sustain a challenge to the very end. Liverpool are too inconsistent. Man United, no chance. No, no, no.

I’m expecting Man City and Arsenal to be up there, but the only other team I can see going all the way with those two would be Tottenham. And out of the three of them, I think, under the radar, Tottenham could do it.

There’s a lot of talk about Man City and Arsenal, but nobody is talking about Tottenham as title challengers, and I think that’s a really good position for them to be in. It’s the best way to be, because there’s no pressure on them. I’m going with Tottenham to win it.

Vardy is the last of the old-school strikers

I always get asked whether I’d rather play in today’s game or back in my day, and I always say I’d rather play in my day. I’ve got the memories, there were no phones around, no camera, no VAR!

I’m happy. Thirteen great years as a Wolves player and even more as an ambassador. I loved my time at Albion and Tipton. I loved every single second of it.

The type of game I used to play, it’s dying out now. You see so many teams looking for out-and-out goalscorers, and they’re so hard to find. I’d say the closest you’ve got to Steve Bull nowadays would be Jamie Vardy. He’s getting on a bit now, but he’s still got a few years left in him. He’s old school. He doesn’t care, he’ll swing at it and score some great goals from all angles, some with his head, some over the top, some along the ground.

You hear he used to be a backstreet boy, always kicking a ball around as a kid, and I was exactly the same. He’s the only player I can think of right now that’s anything like me.

Nowadays, teams don’t have natural strikers. Wolves, now, have got three up front, but who’s the natural striker? There isn’t one. And it’s the same for most clubs.

I’d go as far as to say Vardy is probably the last of that old school brand of strikers. He still looks fit, he’s still scoring goals, and he’s still winding up supporters. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, though – I did it all the time against Albion. All I’d get from them in every game was “Bull s***! Bull s***! Bull s***!”
