West Ham v Manchester City betting tips and odds

Manchester City can get one hand on the Premier League trophy they won 12 months ago when they visit West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

City need four points from their last two games to be crowned champions, although their superior goal difference means just one more win may be enough to see off Liverpool who are competing in the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday,

City boss Pep Guardiola has injury problems in defence but his side are still 4/11 favourites to win at the London Stadium as we look at some of the main issues and odds in our West Ham v Manchester City betting tips.

West Ham v Man City form

City’s form during the run-in has been nothing short of spectacular, winning their last five games at an aggregate of 22-2 to sit three points ahead of Liverpool with two games remaining.

Their latest triumph came on Wednesday when Kevin De Bruyne scored four goals in a 5-1 victory at Wolves, the third time they had scored that number in their last five outings.

City are just 3/1 to make it a high five again, but the Hammers have only once conceded more than two goals this season, against Southampton, and their two encounters with City were close affairs, so that scenario appears unlikely.

However, the visitors can be backed at 20/23 to win and over 2.5 goals for a sixth successive time, although the odds are bigger at 15/8 for a victory and at least four match goals.

No team has scored more times inside the first 10 minutes this season than City’s 12 which has been the case in four of their last seven matches, and they are 9/2 to bag their opening goal during that spell, while they can also be backed at 10/3 to be leading after a quarter of an hour.

City have also been ahead in the opening 30 minutes in their last four matches and that option is 6/4 in our West Ham v Manchester City betting tips, although they are 21/20 to be ahead at the break and full-time or 21/10 to win both halves.

In their last match, the Hammers ran out 4-0 winners at Norwich where Craig Dawson added to their seemingly never-ending injury problems in defence, while Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma also came off.

However, City may only have one fit centre-back for Sunday, so we could see an open game with both teams concentrating on attack.

With that in mind, City to win and both teams to score appeals at 7/4.

West Ham v Manchester City head to head

City posted a 2-1 victory in this season’s reverse fixture, Fernandinho making the points safe in the last minute, although Manuel Lanzini pulled one back in stoppage time to ensure a nervy finish.

That win exacted revenge over the Hammers who a month earlier had eliminated the Carabao Cup holders from the round of 16 following a penalty shoot-out after the game finished goalless at the end of 90 minutes.

City, though, have won nine of the last 10 Premier League meetings with West Ham, although the last two games at the London Stadium in all competitions have been drawn, an option which can be backed at 4/1, while it’s 5/1 with goals thrown in.

The Premier League leaders won by at least two goals in six of those nine wins and are evens to improve that record in our West Ham v Manchester City betting tips.

West Ham v Manchester City team news

City centre-back Aymeric Laporte will have a fitness test on a knee problem he sustained at Molineux where he joined a lengthy list of defensive injuries with Kyle Walker, John Stones and Ruben Dias already out.

Fernandinho played as a makeshift defender on Wednesday but reported a muscular problem, and Nathan Ake played despite an ankle complaint in recent weeks.

Antonio, Dawson and Benrahma are all doubtful for West Ham, so with Issa Diop not in the squad at Carrow Road, Moyes may have a choice to make about who accompanies Kurt Zouma in the heart of defence.

Tomas Soucek was on the bench at Norwich but is likely to be recalled to play in front of the back four alongside Declan Rice.

Goalscorer odds

De Bruyne overtook Raheem Sterling as City’s top scorer this season with his four-goal exploits during the week and he is 9/2 to break the deadlock for the fourth time in seven outings or 6/4 to add to his 15 goals this season.

However, Riyad Mahrez is the 7/2 and 5/4 favourite in the two markets, while Sterling is 4/1 and 7/5 having opened the scoring in the 5-0 win against Newcastle.

De Bruyne is not the only player to have netted four goals this season, with Gabriel Jesus starting the trend in a 5-1 victory over Watford.

The Brazilian is 9/2 to draw first blood and 13/8 to find the net, with Phil Foden 11/2 and 15/8 in the two markets.

Jarrod Bowen looks the best option to open the scoring from the Hammers contingent at 10/1 and the striker is 7/2 to score any time, the same price as Antonio.
