Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton talks through his runners at Ffos Las races and Stratford races on Saturday.

Ffos Las 1.40 – Whenthepennydrops

We need a little bit of rain to run her here, as we had to take her out of Chepstow races last week. If she does take her chance, I think the track will suit her but ultimately, I think she is going to improve for her first run over hurdles.

She has been quite green at home but she will become a better horse and go down the chasing route one day. I expect her to run well but I don’t expect fireworks first time.

Ffos Las 4pm – Cadzand

I have been very happy with him at home. We would love to see a little bit of rain here. We are looking forward to going chasing with him and with a bit of luck we can run. I expect him to go very close.

Ffos Las 4.35 – Calico

We are really happy with his work at home. He’s done lots of work, he is jumping nicely, and this track will definitely suit him. I would have to give him a chance here. He ran well for us last for all of last year and I hope he’s taking that step forward this year. He’s a big player.

Ffos Las 5.40 – Callisto’s King

We run a nice, young horse here. He wouldn’t mind a bit of good ground. If there was any quick ground, I would be doubtful if running. I expect him to run a nice race. I have given him plenty of work at home and he will improve in many different ways for his first run on the racecourse.

Stratford 1.45 – Turnaway

He makes his debut here in the Maiden Hurdle. He’s having his first ever start over hurdles and he will improve for the experience. We don’t fancy him as a bumper horse as he jumps too well. He has no experience to draw on to win this so you have to be a be bit respectful of that.

Stratford 3.30 – Shentri

He has been on the go all summer and has been rather frustrating to be honest. He has come second a lot of times. He just hasn’t quite got his head in front but hopefully this is the day. He is handicapped suitably, he is consistent, he jumps nicely, and the track won’t be a problem. You’d have to look at him as an each-way prospect.

Stratford 4.05 – Whispering Gypsy

I give her a big chance. She doesn’t like to travel too far from home so Stratford is just down the road and ideal. She won last time, her mark is totally acceptable, and she has plenty of ability.
