Dan Skelton: Whispering Gypsy and Destrier can challenge at Haydock
Published:Ladbrokes ambassaor Dan Skelton has just two runners at Haydock this weekend and the Warwickshire-based trainer gave us the lowdown on their prospects on Saturday.
We had a few horses qualified for these finals but I wanted to take the horses who would like the better ground. One of those is Whispering Gypsy who ran nicely last time and I think might improve for that run.
The trip will be fine and she won’t lack stamina over two miles, three furlongs. She has a little chance in a very competitive race.
Very much the same applies to Destrier. I think he probably wants further nowadays and he will be back over fences after this. It’s a bit frustrating that he hasn’t won a race or two in the recent past. He has enough ability to have done that.
He qualifies for the race and I think the track will be fine for him. Two miles is his minimum distance so we will be nice and handy with him.
