This year is a very important one for us. We took a big step up last year and concentrated on the winter horses, Cheltenham races, Aintree races, and Kempton races and we have done the same again.

October has started nicely for us. We have had some nice debuts from a number of horses such as Too Friendly who looks like a decent juvenile, Faivoir in his first chase and it was nice to see Marracudja win after not winning last year. It is a bit irritating that the rain has disappeared, so we have to pick and choose what we run.

It’s a big weekend! Proschema is a very important early runner for us, as is Cabot Cliffs and Not That Fuisse. They’re entered into big handicaps that we have targeted for this time of year. It will be a while before we see the likes of Shan Blue, My Drogo and Protektorat etc because they will need some serious rain.

At the moment we are thinking Shan Blue goes to the Charlie Hall, while Protektorat’s first target will be the Cheltenham Gold Cup next month. There’s no real starting point for My Drogo, we are still making decisions there.

Generally we are looking for a year of consolidation and to try and retain that second spot in the table. If we can remain that far up the table, that is a sign of quality and we can build on that. We are very lucky with some great owners, we have people who really enjoy their racing, and we enjoy doing it for them. I feel we are in a great position, but you can never rest on your laurels.
