Horse Racing: English King now joint favourite for Derby

Published:
Epsom Derby

English King’s victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial has seen him attracted instant support to rival Pinatubo as a front-runner in the Investec Derby at Epsom.

Ed Walker’s charge went to 14/1 from 66/1, but he has since shortened into 6/1 joint-favouritism alongside Pinatubo for the Derby.

Our traders were also impressed by Miss Yoda in her Oaks Trial at Lingfield and have slashed her odds to 16/1 from 40/1 for the Oaks itself.

Elsewhere, Oxted earned himself an opening quote of 20/1 for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. Whereas, Coronation Cup winner, Ghaiyyath has been cut to 6/1 from 10/1 for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and is now 20/1 for the Arc.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “It seems no price is too short for punters when it comes to English King. Punters were clearly blown away by his trial this afternoon and we have been knocked over ever since. So much so, he is now joint-favourite for the race alongside Pinatubo.”
