Following the news that Irish-trained horses will be unable to travel to Britain over the Christmas period, our traders are to refund all ante-post bets on any affected runners.

This includes 8/1 shot Monalee in the Ladbrokes King George, and Put The Kettle On, the 2/1 second favourite for the Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Chase.

As a result of the latter’s absence, Altior is now 2/5 (from 4/6) favourite for the two-mile contest.

Clan Des Obeaux is the 7/4 favourite for the King George, ahead of stablemate Cyrname at 15/8. Real Steel is in to 14/1 from 16/1, with Waiting Patiently cut from 20/1 to 16s, and Saint Calvados in to 25s from 33/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Jon Lees said: “It is a real shame that Monalee and Put The Kettle On will not be allowed to travel to Kempton for the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival, but in the circumstances the announcement was not unexpected. Ladbrokes will be refunding all stakes on bets placed on the Henry De Bromhead-trained pair once the final fields have been declared.”
