He ran a cracker at the Galway Festival on his first run for us, coming third. He got turned over at very short odds back there in October and I was disappointed. We haven’t seen him since but his work at home has been good and the step up in trip won’t do him any harm. He should handle the ground and he should give a good account of himself.
She was a good winner in a listed race the last day. She was unfortunate with a mistake at the last on her previous start at Thurles but without that she would have been a very good winner there. It was nice she was brave the last day and she seems none the worse for that. It is a competitive race as Mirazur West has a massive reputation and I think he will be hard to beat.
There are only four runners here. My horse has done nothing wrong. He was very fragile and doesn’t have a lot of miles on the clock but he has taken to chasing really well. He was a couple of lengths behind Nick Rockett on his first run at Fairyhouse and then he beat Saint Felicien at Gowran. I think he is my best ride of the day and will take a lot of beating.
The Leinster National is a very valuable race so it’s a small field for such a race. Being a novice will help him in such a handicap. He’s only had the four runs over fences so he does lack experience but he was a Grade 1 horse and he could be on the right side of the handicapper. He jumps well and the small field will help. He carries plenty of weight. I was a little disappointed that he was beaten by 14l the last day. I thought he would be closer to them. I suppose he is unexposed and was a G1 hurdler so he will take his chance.
