Ladbrokes ambassador Paul Townend has just three rides this weekend, one at Navan on Saturday and two at Leopardstown 24 hours later.

The two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner assesses the chances of each of them and has high hopes for Whiskey Sour and Fan De Blues on Sunday.

Saturday

Belle Metal – 2.13 Navan

Her bumper form is very good. She has just been disappointing over hurdles on her two runs so far. She is back in mares’ company which will be a help for her. It’s hard to be confident on what she has done over hurdles, but this looks like a nice opportunity for her.

If she can find her bumper form she will take a bit of beating but as I said its hard to be confident.

Sunday

Whiskey Sour – 2.30 Leopardstown

He has to be a big player. On ratings he looks to have a big chance. He is on the back of a solid run at Naas. The trip and ground will be ideal. He has been a very consistent horse and I hope he can add another win to his CV.

Fan De Blues – 4.50 Leopardstown

He’s got a lot of weight. He kicked up at the Dublin Racing Festival last time out but he was running consistently well before that. He is back up in trip here and found it all a bit quick at Christmas.

Fan De Blues, Paul Townend

It was out of character for him to fall the last time. He is in really good form at home and I would give him a big shout here.
