Paul Townend expects good things from Dysart Dynamo at Punchestown

Published:

Ladbrokes ambassador Paul Townend is at Fairyhouse on Saturday and Punchestown on Sunday, and he gave us his thoughts on each of his rides this weekend.

Saturday

Fairyhouse 12.50 – Annamix

Annamix is going back to hurdles after falling in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury. He missed his appointment on New Year’s Day at Tramore and probably wants a bit further than this at this stage of his life.

This is an opportunity for him. Going back over hurdles is something different for him and he will have to bring his A game to be winning over this trip.

Fairyhouse 1.57 – Hauturiere

She ran well under Danny Mullins on her first run for us at Tramore. She will improve plenty for that and the rise in weights won’t inconvenience her.

Henry De Bromhead’s Secret She Keeps caught my eye over Christmas. I thought she was doing her best work at the end and I think she will take all the beating.

Sunday

Punchestown 12.15 – Dysart Dynamo

He has been very impressive for us so far. He was very free in his bumper at the Punchestown Festival and still managed to win. He jumped well when winning a maiden hurdle in Cork. It’s a good race and a stepping stone towards Cheltenham for a lot of people. We think he is very smart.

Hawai Game is another one of Willie’s in there. He was very free at Naas but showed a lot of ability to stay going after doing a lot of things wrong. It’s a good race and we think a lot of this horse. He could be one of our better novice hurdlers this year.

Punchestown 2.20 – Gaillard Du Mesnil

He is up against Bob Olinger here. I was disappointed he was beaten in his Beginners Chase but this time of the year, we have run out of time to go for another one. Capodanno beat him that day and opposes him again here.

I would imagine the whole race will revolve around Bob Olinger. We weren’t good enough to beat him over hurdles and I’m not sure we have found enough improvement to beat him over fences either. If Bob Olinger is as good as they think he is, he is the one we will all have to beat.

Punchestown 2.50 – Whiskey Lullaby

She is in a Beginners Chase but she is a handicap chaser that we got from Paul Nicholls. She had a run in a maiden hurdle for us over Christmas in Limerick.

We were still learning a bit about her at that stage and she will come on from it. She has lots of experience to call upon. She has a rating but it’s not very high so she will need to rely on her experience.
