How Twitter reacted to England’s pulsating first Test defeat
Published:
England came close to pulling off a shock comeback in the first Test of their summer fourpiece with Pakistan, before eventually falling to a 75-run defeat on day four at Lord’s, which leaves them rated 2/1 outsiders for series success.
One of the main talking points was the Pakistan celebration, with England’s official Twitter account magnanimously commending both their display and the post-match spectacle
Fair play to @TheRealPCB who played some excellent cricket and good celebrations too. #EngvPak https://t.co/czkHg2bFsu

More than the outcome, most onlookers were just excited by the spectacle that they had witnessed
What a memorable Test match. Pakistan fans queueing inside Lord's to buy the completed scorecards and chanting in celebration in the street

Michael Vaughan was also pulled up for his past cynicism about the ability of man of the match Yasir Shah, who claimed 10 wickets
You good, mate? @MichaelVaughan ??#ENGvPAK pic.twitter.com/8kPwaBg9rH

The highlight of Shah’s day was his dismissal of Gary Ballance, which was instantly compared to some Shane Warne mastery on Andrew Strauss in 2005

Piers Morgan ensured that it wasn’t just the Pakistan players getting the credit though
Kudos to Lord's groundsman Mick Hunt for preparing such a cracking Test match pitch. Has a bit of everything. #ENGvPAK @HomeOfCricket
