Impressive Masar to blitz the field in Solario Stakes at Sandown
Published:An action-packed eight race cards dominates the ITV schedule this weekend, peaking with the Beverley Bullet at 15:35.
There’s also racing from Chester and Sandown including the highly competitive Group 3 Solario Stakes.
Without further adieu let’s get going on what looks to be a cracking afternoon of action.
NAP – Masar – 14:25, Sandown
Masar looks well placed to build on his third in the Chesham Stakes in this Group 3 renewal.
He was beaten by September that day but only finished a short head behind Nyaleti.
Nyaleti would go on to prove his quality by winning the Princess Margaret Stakes at Royal Ascot at a canter, highlighting the potential of two-year-old Masar.
What’s more, trainer Charlie Appleby has been in red-hot form of late.
He has a 37% strike-rate with two-year-olds on the turf this season and had Class 1 and 2 winners at the York Ebor Festival last week.
We’re expecting a big performance from the Irish-bred raider who will have James Doyle in the saddle
NB – Intimation – 15:00, Sandown
A succession of recent place finishes make Intimation an attractive prospect in the Atalanta Stakes.
The five-year-old has been handed a favourable high draw at Sandown in her first race back in the UK since 2016.
In-fact this is only the mare’s second race back following a 113 day lay-off which ended last week.
She came back with an encouraging second to Rain Goddess by ½l at the Curragh and is handily placed to claim a maiden season win here.
Market leaders Aljazzi and Nathra will provide a tough test but we think Sir Michael Stoute’s charge has what it takes.
Lively Longshot – Desert Law – 15:15, Beverley
We couldn’t go through this preview without having a look over the 5f Beverley Bullet.
So it’s Desert Law that gets our vote on each-way terms.
The nine-year-old has shown significant improvement of late and has won his last two at Doncaster and York.
Those were in Class 3 and Class 2 company and he’s stepped up again here.
Paul Midgley’s charge has been drawn in stall six which will only improve his chances.
We think the gelding is the one to be on in a race that rarely sees the favourite trot away to victory.
