It’s a close call but fans expect Hibs to beat Hearts
Published:
One of the fiercest rivalries in football will be renewed tonight as Hibernian and Hearts meet in the Scottish Cup.
The Hibees and the Jam Tarts haven’t had too many opportunities to meet this season, with Alan Stubbs’ men currently plying their trade in the second tier and the Jambos on course for a top three finish in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
However, according to fans on social media it is the Hibees who will come out on top when the sides meet at Easter Road.
We asked the good people of Twitter to vote for the side they see winning tonight’s match and with 52 per cent of the votes it was Hibs who came out on top.
All eyes in Scotland will be on tonight’s Edinburgh Derby. Will it be #Hibs or #HMFC through to the quarter-final?

With 48 per cent of the votes there won’t be too many Hearts fans deterred by the outcome of the poll, however, the betting seems to condemn Robbie Neilson’s side even more.
With the first game ending 2-2 Hibs go into tonight’s fifth round replay as slight favourites at 13/10, while Hearts can be backed at 2/1.
Another draw can be backed at 23/10 but even it that scenario it is Hibs who look like to progress with qualification on at 4/6 for the hosts and 11/10 for the visitors.
That said, it seems a derby day to remember is the best Hibs can hope for in the competition, with Ladbrokes pricing a cup win for Stubbs’ men at 14/1 and success in the competition for Neilson’s boys at 9/1. – worth mentioning? makes us seem a little muggish but i’m easy
As ever Edinburgh plays second fiddle to Glasgow in the betting, with Celtic 4/7 favourites and Rangers also priced at 9/1 but send their city rivals packing and the winner of Hibs v Hearts will fancy their chances of going all the way.
