Kamara: Rooney will be Man United’s inspiration against Arsenal

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal heads into this weekend’s standout Premier League contest against Arsenal with plenty to ponder around his team selection.

A crippling injury-list means Van Gaal will be without a number of key first-team players on Saturday evening, including the likes of Michael Carrick, Daley Blind and Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao.

But while Arsenal fans may well be licking their lips at the prospect of facing an under strength top-four rival, everyone’s favourite pundit Chris Kamara believes one man in particular can give the Gunners something to think about.

“Confidence is a massive factor in football. And when someone comes back to form in the manner Wayne Rooney has, then there’s good reason for Arsenal to be fearful”, Kammy told Ladbrokes News.

“One man doesn’t make a team but he can inspire them to greater heights and Arsene Wenger’s boys will be very wary of Wayne.”

The United and England captain was in inspired form on international duty in the past week. Having dragged the Three Lions back into their Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia, Rooney then bagged a brace in a 3-1 friendly victory over old rivals Scotland.

“Rooney’s world has turned upside down. Having faced criticism from all quarters, people are starting to see how he’s matured into a fine player in the last couple of months.

He has a belief about him and he’ll go into this game full of confidence. He’ll be a major threat to Arsenal”, Kammy said.

Arsenal are the 6/5 favourites to triumph at the Emirates with the draw priced at 12/5 and a Man United victory available at 23/10 with Ladbrokes.

Plus, the bookmaker will also be offering ‘Top Price on all Correct Scores and First Goalscorers’ from 8am on the day of the game.
