Ladbrokes World Grand Prix: Ronnie exits in opening day drama

The opening day of the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix provided plenty of drama in Llandudno, with Ronnie O’Sullivan the biggest casualty in north Wales.
Joe Perry was in fine form versus Barry Hawkins, while Martin Gould also wasted little time in his clash with Tian Pengfei.
The crowd were treated to some sublime potting at the Venue Cymru, and there’s plenty more to come this week.

Michael Holt produced some of his best snooker to hand Ronnie O’Sullivan an early exit.
Holt raced into a 3-0 lead, but the Rocket fired right back to level the match, before Holt claimed the scalp with a 76 in the decider.
Joe Perry is also in round two after a 4-0 win over Barry Hawkins including a 133 break, and Martin Gould claimed the same scoreline against Tian Pengfei.
Meanwhile Ding Junhui and Ben Woollaston endured a somewhat scrappy affair…
The Chinaman eventually prevailed 4-3 and faces Peter Ebdon in the second round.
The 2002 World Champion rolled back the years to knock out Aussie Neil Robertson, while Mark Allen awaits the winner of Marco Fu versus Thepchaiya Un-Nooh after downing David Grace 4-2.
Four-time World Champion John Higgins dispatched Joe Swail 4-0, and will face Ryan Day in the second round after the Welshman saw off Matthew Selt 4-1.
