League Two newcomers both suffer first defeats of the season
Published:The gap between League Two and the Conference has narrowed in recent years, as shown by the success of teams like Exeter City and Dagenham and Redbridge, but Stevenage and Oxford United have both made a slow start to life in the fourth tier.
Following opening day draws, both promoted sides were beaten this weekend, with Stevenage losing to former boss Peter Taylor away at ambitious Bradford and Oxford tasting defeat at home to Bury.
Three teams have climbed from the Conference to League One in successive seasons over the last seven years, with Doncaster and Carlisle doing so as champions, however neither newcomer is fancied to do the same. Oxford are 16/1 to win the league, with Stevenage 20/1.
