If we said at the start of the year that it would be an Armagh v Galway All-Ireland final, people would think you were crazy. I certainly didn’t envisage these two teams making it this far but I have to say they are full value for their money and they deserve to be where they are.
Galway deserved their victory against Dublin and Armagh were exceptional against Kerry when pushed all the way. This game will be a very cagey affair where both teams will set up very defensively.

This game will boil down to whoever can get their kickouts out to greater effect. Both teams have dangerous forwards that can hurt any opposition. Galway will have to keep a close eye on Rian O’Neill and his ability to be able to kick from distance. Conor Turbitt and Rory Grugan will be tightly marked, as will Shane Walsh and Damien Comer. Dylan McHugh has been my footballer of the year so far. His kicking ability and his capability to break the line has been a huge addition to Galway.
If he has a big one in the final, it is hard to see Galway being beaten. But I think Armagh will have a plan for him just like they had a plan for Brian O Beaglaoich who was also having a huge year until Armagh curbed his influence in the semi-final. Expect something similar to happen to McHugh on Sunday.
I think Galway will feel the pressure that bit more as they did not get over the line in 2022 against Kerry. Armagh know they don’t get to All-Ireland finals too often. When you get to them you have to seize the moment and go for it. I think they can do it and I think they may just edge it and I am backing them for a win at 11/8.
