Marc Ó Sé previews the preliminary All-Ireland quarter-finals
Published:The preliminary All-Ireland quarter-finals take place this weekend and Ladbrokes ambassador Marc Ó Sé gave us his thoughts on Saturday’s matches.
These games are all about momentum and we got some shock results last weekend. Cork were six points behind Mayo and they managed to claw it back to win. Steven Sherlock was sensational, and with Rory Maguire and Colm O’Callaghan in the middle of the field, there is a real purpose to Cork.
It’s Preliminary All-Ireland Quarterfinal weekend, with four very interesting games featuring 3 Connacht, 3 Ulster, 1 Leinster and 1 Munster county. Take a look at the upcoming GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship fixtures! #GAABelong pic.twitter.com/Qr1yUycSc1

I have been very impressed with Roscommon so far but they are running out of gas at the business end of the year. Yes, they have match-winning players but I just think that Cork will edge this at home and I am backing them to win.
What an exciting final few minutes of play it was when the Kildare boys overcame Roscommon. Kevin Feely’s mark was awesome. The way he got up into the air to catch that ball and then to convert the mark was a great way to win the game. Donegal knocked the wind out of Monaghan’s sails so it will be hard to pick things up in the space of a week. I give Kildare a great chance here and I am going to back them to cause a minor upset.
Westmeath should have beaten Tyrone last weekend had John Heslin kicked that final free. Darren McCurry was a big loss for them. Darragh Canavan was on fire and I expect Brendan McCole to pick him up after a great man-marking job on Jack McCarron last weekend. Whether he can repeat it this weekend is open to question especially with Canavan in such form.

With Brian Kennedy and Conn Kilpatrick out around the middle, I expect Tyrone to overcome this Donegal team who have come back from the dead. I wouldn’t rule out a draw at 13/2 but I will back Tyrone for the win.
