Northern Ireland’s journey is going to end in the last-16, say fans

Published:

Few predicted that Northern Ireland would emerge from a rock-hard Group C containing world champions Germany, Poland and Ukraine. But Michael O’Neill’s men defied the odds and in doing so captured the hearts of football fans across the continent.

However, the Green and White Army’s epic Euro 2016 journey will soon come to an end according to the majority of our Twitter followers.

A sizeable 61 per cent reckon the last-16 will be the last we see of O’Neill’s charges and with Wales or tournament joint-favourites France their potential opponents you can see the logic behind that decision-making.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom though with the next best result on our list the 22 per cent who are backing Norn Iron to ‘win the whole thing’!

We haven’t checked any IP addresses but we are of the mind that a fair few of those voters may be from Ulster.

Meanwhile, 14 per cent think that Northern Ireland can negotiate their next hurdle and make the last-eight with the remaining three per cent tipping them for a semi-finals berth.

Once tonight’s final Group F matches have been played the Green and White Army’s fate will be decided.

According to our voters though, Northern Ireland will have to do more than just #DaretoDream in order to progress any further while it’d take something truly special for O’Neill’s side to upset odds of 300/1 to win the Euros.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
