The 2019 Oscars are less than a week away, and British hopes are high ahead of the historic ceremony in Los Angeles.

Roma (4/11) and Alfonso Cuaron (1/25) may be favourite for Best Picture and Best Director respectively, but Olivia Colman is challenging Glenn Close for Leading Actress.

The Norwich-born star is 5/1 to claim the award for her part in The Favourite, although Close continues to lead the way at 1/7.

Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody faces a tough task to wrestle the Best Picture accolade away from Roma, but actor Rami Malek is hot favourite to be named Leading Actor.

The 37-year-old is 1/5 to win the hotly contested category, which also includes Christian Bale (4/1) and Bradley Cooper (20/1).

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There are plenty of huge favourites in the betting this year but we’re not ruling out a couple of upsets next weekend.”
