Rishi Sunak now 4/1 to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak, Chancellor

Rishi Sunak’s ‘mini-budget’ could pave the way for him landing the top job at number 10, according to our odds.

The proposals put forward by the Chancellor of the Exchequer received such a warm response that we’ve had no choice but to cut his odds of being the UK’s next Prime Minister to just 4/1.

That means Sunak is now the second-favourite to replace Boris Johnson as PM, putting him behind only Labour leader Keir Starmer at 2/1.

Elsewhere, Sunak is now the clear 3/1 favourite to become next Conservative Party leader, with Michael Gove considered his nearest challenger at 8/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Rishi Sunak is now hot on the heels of Keir Starmer in the race to replace Boris as PM and following the public’s immediate response to his announcement this afternoon, he’s now just 4/1 to do exactly that.”
