Poll: Are Oasis the dream special guest for Glastonbury 2015?

Published:

The first official announcement regarding this year’s Glastonbury line-up has been released with Foo Fighters and Kanye West the headline acts.

What has got tongues wagging though is the prominent placing of the words “Special Guests” on the line-up poster, causing many to speculate as to who will be joining the American rockers and the controversial Chicago rapper.

Here in the Ladbrokes News office we have our favourites but we’re giving you the opportunity to let us know who your dream act would be?

Read on and vote for one of our six top choices or let us know if there’s anyone else you’d rather see in the comments below.

Blur

The Britpop behemoths are back with a bang and primed to release their 12th studio album The Magic Whip later this month.

With guitarist Graham Coxon back in the line-up and Stephen Smith – the man behind many of their 1990s heyday hits – back on production duties the stage is set for the Blur boys to take their recent live shows a step further.

Sell out shows at Hyde Park in London show the appetite is still there and the thought of Somerset fields bouncing to the sounds of Charmless Man certainly appeals.

Oasis

You can’t mention Blur without mentioning Oasis and while the Gallagher brothers seem about as far away from a reunion as ever – especially with Noel’s High Flying Birds doing so well – it would be just like the Manchester legends to pop up out of the (Sky) blue!

Noel appeared to be thawing to the idea of a reunion recently, when stating in an interview he’d happily work with Liam again to get “our kid’s” own career back on track.

Stone Roses

There wouldn’t be an Oasis but for The Stone Roses and but for a BMX accident injuring John Squires the Fools Gold singers would have topped the bill in 1995.

Most of the band has graced the Glasto stage in various guises since but there is definitely a sense of unfinished business as far as the band as a whole are concerned.

Fleetwood Mac

With Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and the McVies putting their differences well and truly to one side Fleetwood Mac’s On With The Show tour recently sold out within minutes leaving thousands of fans disappointed.

The rockers are yet to play Glasto despite their 40-something years in the game and with the band back together now could be the perfect time.

Eminem

Given the controversy surrounding the bookings of Jay Z and now Kanye West another prominent hip-hop artist seems an unlikely option but if Glasto is starting to go down this road then there are few bigger names in the rap game than Slim Shady.

His latest album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 went double platinum and topped the charts in more than eight different countries cementing the Detroit MC’s place as a hip-hop heavyweight some 17 years after he burst on to the scene.

Iron Maiden

Bruce Dickinson is said to be on course for a full recovery after having a tumour removed from his tongue and while the June date may be too soon a quicker than expected rehabilitiaon could open the door for a first Glasto crack for the legendary rock outfit.

With a 16th studio album in the can and waiting for release the band certainly have something to plug, while the chance to hear Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter, Run to the Hills and Be Quick or Be Dead in all their glory would be stunning.
