Port Vale lose away at Oxford but stay top of the League Two table
Published:Port Vale saw their lead at the top of League Two cut to three points after their first away defeat of the season at Oxford.
Gareth Owen levelled for Vale in the 92nd minute of injury time but Tom Craddock hit Oxford’s winner seconds later as Vale suffered their first away defeat of the season.
Manager Micky Adams issued a don’t panic plea after the defeat and the Vale boss believes his side can learn from the defeat.
“We had an off-day, got our backsides spanked and have to take the defeat and move on, but my message to the fans is we can get better and it’s not the end of the world,” said Adams.
Port Vale head the League Two betting market at 7/2 to win the league with Rotherham and Chesterfield joint second favourites at 7/1.
Rotherham were held to a draw in their match with Bury but Adam Le Fondre continued his scoring streak with his ninth league goal in 10 League Two matches.
Le Fondre is the 13/8 favourite to top the League Two goal scoring charts at the end of the season with Port Vale’s Marc Richards his nearest rival in the betting at 8/1.
Bury currently lie in fifth place and would’ve wanted to win at home against Rotherham which would’ve sent them ahead of the Millers in the table.
But the point means they continue to challenge at the top end of the League Two table and they are a big price at 16/1 to win the league.
With quarter the odds available in the each way betting, that price leaves Bury 4/1 to finish in the top three.
