Premier League acca: Man City & Liverpool to share spoils

Published:
Anfield

Ladbrokes is back with its latest Premier League acca, with Manchester City’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool featuring as part of our near-41/1 bet.

Man City dispatched of derby rivals Man United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium last week, but they’ll be up against a significantly more difficult challenge when they face a Liverpool side that are, at the time of writing, two points ahead of them in the league.

If Liverpool win, they’ll go four points ahead of City with just ten games left to play, making them clear favourites to win the Premier League. But it’s all to play for on Sunday afternoon, as if Pep Guardiola bests Jurgen Klopp once again, City will leapfrog Liverpool and lead the league.

We’re going for a draw at Anfield this weekend, which forms part of our five-fold Premier League acca, which can be backed with Ladbrokes at the time of writing with odds of 40.24/1.

Premier League acca

Man United to beat Everton – 17/20

We kick our Premier League acca off at Old Trafford, where we’re going with Man United to beat Everton, getting back to winning ways after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Man City last week. Erik ten Hag’s men, to their credit, have only lost two games in the entirety of 2024 so far, having been bested by City and Fulham, the latter of which came at Old Trafford two weeks ago.

Playing at home once again, United will want to get back into form as they head into this vital juncture of the season, where a spot in the Champions League places is still, in theory, up for grabs. It won’t be easy coming up against Everton, who aren’t seen as favourites for relegation anymore after their points deduction was reduced from 10 to six points, but we’re still expecting Ten Hag and co to walk away with all three points.

Bournemouth to beat Sheffield United – 1/3

Unfortunately for Chris Wilder, it very much seems like Sheffield United are going to be playing Championship football next season. They find themselves bottom of the table, with just 13 points after 27 games, with their most recent outing being a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.

We’re not expecting the Blades to fare much better at the Vitality Stadium this weekend, so we’re selecting Bournemouth to beat Sheffield United as the second leg of our Premier League acca. The Cherries are 13th in the league right now, finding themselves just five points behind Chelsea after a slew of impressive summer signings, and we’re expecting them to beat Sheffiled United, just as they did against Burnley last week.

Arsenal to beat Brentford – 2/9

The third leg of our Premier League acca takes us to the Emirates Stadium, where we’re expecting Arsenal to continue their world class form with another win, this time against a Brentford side who are plague by injuries right now, particularly in defence.

Arsenal beat Sheffield United 6-0 earlier in the week, which followed a 4-1 win over Newcastle, a 5-0 trashing Burnley and a 6-0 demolition of West Ham over the last few weeks. The Gunners can’t stop winning (and scoring) right now, and we’re not expecting that to change when they face Brentford this week.

Thomas Frank’s side are without several key men due to injury, and we’re expecting that to prove to be too much for them against an Arsenal side who want to make it clear that they’re very much still in the title race. With one of Liverpool and Man City guaranteed to drop points this weekend, Arsenal could find themselves either in second or even first come the end of the weekend, so expect Mikel Arteta to want to put out another statement here.

Aston Villa to draw with Tottenham – 14/5

Aston Villa have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this year, finding themselves as the favourites to finish in fourth spot and qualify for the Champions League this season. Tottenham are seen to be their biggest threat though, with Ange Postecoglu’s side five points behind Unai Emery’s team, with a game in hand.

Tottenham will need to win this, or at least avoid defeat, if they want to play Champions League football next year, and they’ll fancy their chances with the game being sandwiched between two Europa Conference League ties for Villa against Ajax, but we’re still predicting a draw as part of our Premier League acca.

There isn’t much to separate the two teams. Ollie Watkins is in top form right now, and Tottenham’s midfield is pretty much back to full strength. This game should definitely be a fun watch, even if it ends with a draw, as we’re predicting.

Liverpool to draw with Man City – 13/5

The main event of our Premier League acca this weekend takes us to Anfield, where we’re predicting that Liverpool will draw with Manchester City, likely losing out on their spot as Premier League leaders to Arsenal in the process.

Liverpool made light work of Sparta Prague in the Europa League last week, winning their first-leg tie 5-1 away from home, while Man City were able to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after another 3-1 win over Copenhagen, being able to rest key players in the process.

Both teams are dealing with fitness issues, with Liverpool missing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and others, whilst Man City are without Jack Grealish and potentially also Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes through injury.

The stakes are high, but so are the rewards in this one. Unfortunately for both teams, we’re predicting NEITHER to win, so the final leg of our Premier League acca sees us going with a draw between City and Liverpool, the same result as when the two sides met at the Etihad Stadium back in November.

You can back Ladbrokes’ Premier League acca, at the time of writing, with odds of 40.25/1.
