Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron prediction and odds

Ireland’s Katie Taylor is fancied to prove a homecoming queen when taking on Chantelle Cameron in Dublin on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old from Bray, in County Wicklow, will have her first professional bout in Ireland, as she bids to become an undisputed two-weight world champion.

We’re siding with the local hero to prevail at 4/7 for our first Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron prediction.

Taylor no stranger to pressure

From striking gold at London 2012 to taking on Amanda Serrano at New York’s Madison Square Garden last year, Taylor is accustomed to coping with the weight of expectation.

So, the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight champion, who is stepping up to light-welterweight to challenge for Cameron’s four belts, is unlikely to be fazed by headlining the first major boxing card in Dublin since 2016.

“I have the experience of fighting on these big occasions,” said KT. “I have the experience of fighting when there is a lot of pressure on my shoulders.

“I don’t really see it as anything too outrageous in terms of what I’ve actually experienced before. Every single time I step into the ring, I feel like there’s a lot of pressure on me.

“I am just getting on with things, looking forward to the fight, I’m excited about it. I’m not feeling the burden right now, I’m just excited. This could be the biggest moment of my career so far.

“This is a huge occasion for me and I’m just delighted to have a chance to fight at home. A few years ago, I didn’t think this was ever going to happen, so I’m just so excited about it.”

Plans for a rematch with Serrano at Croke Park were scuppered by security costs and then an injury to the Puerto Rican.

However, KT is expected to outwork her new opponent and 8/11 for a points win is another solid option from the Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron odds.

Il Capo gunning for revenge

Cameron, who has won all 17 of her fights in the paid ranks, will have a height and reach advantage at the light-welterweight limit of 140lbs.

However, the Northampton boxer did lose to Taylor in the semi-finals of the 2011 European Championships as an amateur.

The 31-year-old also has experience of big nights, beating Olympic bronze medallist Adriana Araujo in Milton Keynes to claim the WBC belt in October 2020.

Her first defence was against Melissa Hernandez on the undercard of Devin Haney versus Jorge Linares in Nevada.

An emphatic points decision over Mary McGee saw Il Capo add the IBF belt to her trophy cabinet, while November’s Abu Dhabi defeat of Jessica McCaskill earned her vacant WBA and WBO titles.

“I definitely believe this fight has the potential to be the hardest of my career so far and I am ready for that challenge,” Taylor added. “These are the kinds of fights that I am very, very excited about.

“I’ve had my eye on Chantelle for a few years now, this is a fight that I’ve always wanted. The motivation is as high as ever for this fight for me.

“It would have been a lot worse if I was going from Amanda Serrano to a mandatory opponent, a fight I can’t really get up for. This is a fight I am genuinely motivated for and she is as well.

“I’m going to have to be at my very, very best on fight night. People are saying this is going to be an even better fight than the Amanda Serrano fight, so there is a huge appetite.”

Cameron can be backed at 6/4 to make it 18 straight wins as a pro, while punters can get 14/1 for a draw in the 10-round bout.
