Published:Based on voice alone, Treyc Cohen would almost certainly be a leading contender to win the X Factor, but for now she must simply be happy to be competing in the show.
A year ago Treyc failed to make it past the judge’s house stage of the competition when she was in the over-25 category with Simon Cowell.
And lightning seemed set to strike twice as she was cut at the same stage by Cheryl Cole this year when a change in the age groups left her in the girls category.
However, another change in the rules to spice up the show handed each mentor the chance to bring back a wildcard and Cheryl wasted little time in opting for Treyc.
Cheryl was proved wise when Treyc produced arguably the best performance of the first night of the live TV shows with her rendition of ‘One’ and another top vocal quickly followed when she chose Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.
Treyc is now 16/1 in the X Factor betting to win the show, but much will come down to whether her stunning voice alone will be enough to win the competition.
This factor has proved enough for Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke in the past and Cheryl has a proven track record with a similar act after being responsible for Alexandra’s route to success.
The X Factor girls betting odds place Treyc at 5/1 to be Cheryl’s last act left in the competition and she has the backing of last year’s third-place finisher Stacey Solomon.
