World Cup 2022: Tunisia vs France odds, preview and tips

World Cup holders France are already through to the last 16 following 4-1 and 2-1 victories over Australia and Denmark respectively, but Tunisia still have a chance of joining them in the knockout stage despite being bottom of the group.

Les Bleus are 5/1 second favourites behind Brazil in the World Cup winner odds and France winning odds of 8/15 suggest they will reach the knockout stage with a perfect record.

However, head coach Didier Deschamps may take the opportunity to rest some of his key players as even a defeat is likely to see them top the group, with Australia unlikely to get a high-scoring win against Denmark.

Mbappe could tame Eagles of Carthage

The Tunisians, 5/1 to cause one of several shocks at this tournament like Morocco did against Belgium or 3/1 to get a draw, are making their sixth appearance at the World Cup finals and have yet to reach the last 16, so with just one point and no goals scored that run is likely to be extended in Qatar.

The Eagles of Carthage made an encouraging start to their campaign with a goalless draw against Denmark, but their hopes of progressing further suffered a massive setback with a 1-0 defeat by Australia at the weekend.

While the Africans were struggling to find the net, Kylian Mbappe scored twice against the Danes to make it three for the tournament and the PSG star is now 11/4 favourite to win the Golden Boot.

Mbappe is 14/5 to break the deadlock, 11/10 to score at any time or 12/5 to outscore the opposition in the World Cup odds, all of which look tempting although it’s probably worth checking the starting line-ups an hour before kick-off before getting involved in these markets.

France are on course to face Argentina in the last 16, so Deschamps may want to rest his star man for a clash with one of the favourites to win the World Cup – but try telling Mbappe he has been dropped.

Africans could limit Les Bleus

Tunisia may be heading home, but apart from a 5-1 drubbing by Brazil they had kept eight clean sheets in their previous nine matches in the build-up to the World Cup, admittedly against teams several notches below the quality of France.

Jalel Kadri’s men are 9/2 to keep a clean sheet against the injury-hit holders, who are without Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Christopher Nkunku, Presnel Kimpembe and left-back Lucas Hernandez, who ruptured his ACL during the win against the Socceroos.

It’s all on the underdogs to take the game to the French, but with changes afoot the champions to win either 1-0 or 2-0 at 12/5 in the World Cup betting is the next of Wednesday’s Tunisia vs France betting tips.

Holders to break out in second half

France have conceded in both group games and are 5/2 to win and concede again, but Tunisia failed to score against Australia, so it’s hard to see them getting past the leaders even if they make multiple changes.

The French are 27/20 to win to nil or 5/2 as a #BuildABet option to win either half, over 1.5 goals in the match and to keep a clean sheet in our Tunisia vs France betting tips.

They look like potential winning bets, but at slightly bigger odds, we’ll go with Draw HT/France FT at 14/5 in the World Cup odds.
