Norwich v Southampton betting tips: Smith faces Saints in opener
Published:Norwich v Southampton betting tips and odds
Dean Smith is one of three new Premier League managers in the dug-out on Saturday afternoon as he takes charge of Norwich for the clash with Southampton.
Smith was sacked by Aston Villa after a run of five successive defeats but he was not out of work for long, replacing Daniel Farke who was shown the door by the bottom-of-the-table Canaries.
City are 5/2 underdogs to win their second game of the season as we look at some of the options in our Norwich v Southampton betting tips.
Match Odds
Farke was dismissed a couple of hours after Norwich secured their first win of the season at Brentford before the international break which suggests the decision had already been made to remove the German from his post.
Ironically, Smith’s first game in charge is against Southampton, the team that ultimately cost him his job following a 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s two weeks ago.
Saints are on an excellent run of form, winning three and drawing one of their last four games and can be backed at 11/10 to pick up another three points.

All three of those victories came by 1-0 scorelines and they are available at 13/2 to win that way once again in our Norwich v Southampton betting tips.
The Canaries have failed to score in seven of their Premier League games and are 13/5 to lose to nil, but three of their five goals have come in their last two games, so we go 3/1 on the visitors winning and conceding.
Talking Tactics
Smith will be familiar with how Southampton play having faced them at the start of the month.
Ralph Hasenhuttl went with his usual 4-4-2 formation, but has doubts surrounding Armando Broja, James Ward-Prowse, Tino Livramento and Nathan Redmond.

Smith deployed a 4-2-3-1 at St Mary’s, the same system Farke used in a 2-1 win at Brentford last time out.
Central defender Grant Hanley missed that game and both of Scotland’s World Cup qualifiers, so Ben Gibson and Andrew Omobamidele are likely to start at the back.
Goalscorer Odds
Che Adams scored in Southampton’s Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea, netted the only goal of the game at Watford a few days later and struck in both 2-0 wins against Moldova and Denmark which sealed Scotland a home semi-final in the World Cup play-offs.
Adams and Broja are the 9/2 co-favourites to break the deadlock and 15/8 to get on the scoresheet, the same prices as Norwich striker Teemu Pukki.
Adam Armstrong scored his second goal of the season in the win against Villa and is 5/1 and 2/1 in the two markets, while namesake Stuart is 11/1 and 4/1 respectively.
City midfielder Mathias Normann impressed in west London a fortnight ago and is 16/1 to open the scoring again or 6/1 to find the net in our Norwich v Southampton betting tips.
