West Ham to join Leicester and Tottenham in the Champions League

Published:

West Ham will grab the Premier League’s coveted fourth-spot at the expense of both Manchester teams at the end of the season, thanks to the exploits of Dimitri Payet and co for Slaven Bilic’s east Londoners.

That’s the view from our Twitter poll today, which following the dramatic derby at the Etihad yesterday, simply asked who will finish fourth in the Premier League?

Slaven Bilic’s Hammers have been going great guns of late, and are in with a big chance of beating their previous best Premier League finish of fifth under Harry Redknapp in the 1998-99 campaign.

The side are certainly well on course to beat their best points tally of 57 from the same year, and after losing just two of their last 17 matches, some 41 per cent of you say the men claret and blue are going to snatch fourth place this season.

In second place came Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils with 29 per cent, perhaps boosted by their impressive derby win.

Things don’t look too good for Manchester City therefore with just 23 per cent of you backing Manuel Pellegrini’s side to come fourth. Or does that mean you think they’ll finish third?…

Of course the mathematical wizards among you will note that those three choices don’t add up to 100, which leaves a small fraction of you saying ‘other’.

With Southampton and Stoke not truly out of the running, and who could bet against an Arsenal collapse? Perhaps ‘other’ might just be the savvy answer.

For the most part though, it seems West Ham’s new home at the Olympic Stadium could be an early host to some Champions League football.
