Everton vs Wolves – Howard looking to put howler behind him

Published:

Wolves travel to Goodison Park looking to capitalise on a defence low in confidence after Tim Howard’s howler at Ewood Park on the opening day of the season.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 1-1 draw when Diniyat Biyaletdinov slid home a dramatic late equaliser, and Everton will be mindful of the midlands team after their stuttering start to the campaign.

However, Wolves can only boast of four away victories in their Premier League history, whilst Everton are unbeaten in their last 12 at home, winning nine of the last 10.

The last time Wolves managed to come away from Goodison with all three points was in 1979 when Andy Gray netted on his debut.

Everton are 8/15 to take home the three points but a draw looks the better value at 11/4.

Wolves will be boosted by the return of Kevin Doyle who looks likely to start despite struggling with a dead leg since Ireland’s defeat to Argentina 17 days ago.

Doyle scored nine in his first season and is looking to edge out Sylvan Ebanks-Blake for a starting spot alongside record signing and debut scorer Steven Fletcher. Both are available at 9/1 to bag the opening goal.

Everton’s Jermaine Beckford looks resigned to the bench for the second time after his move from Leeds in the summer, but is available at 7/4 to score anytime and impress the home faithful.

But with Tim Howard looking to avenge last weekend’s mistake by keeping a clean sheet, 10/1 for a 0-0 score line looks the pick of the games markets.

Will Howard’s confidence affect the outcome? Wolves are 6/1 to take advantage of any mistakes. See the full Everton vs Wolves Match Betting Odds market.
