Adkins goes in search of back-to-back Southampton victories

Published:

Southampton will be hopeful that a first goal and victory under the stewardship of Nigel Adkins will be the start of a climb up the League One table and the boss will be keen to secure a similar outcome at Yeovil.

The Saints did the double over Yeovil in League One last season and did not concede in either victory.

They won 1-0 at Huish Park and it is 10/11 that they beat Yeovil again, while 7/1 is being offered that the same scoreline is repeated.

Yeovil have lost four of their last five games in all competitions and have conceded seven times in their last two outings.

They are 13/5 to beat Southampton, with Dean Bowditch 7/1 to be the game’s first goalscorer, which will be his fourth League One strike of the campaign.

Swindon head into their game with Plymouth high on confidence after three straight wins and are 1/1 to stretch this run to four fixtures.

A tight defence has been key to their recent form as they have only let in one goal in four games, which makes a repeat of Plymouth’s 3-2 win at the County Ground on their last visit unlikely.

Plymouth are 11/4 to beat Swindon but have failed to score in four of their last six away games against Danny Wilson’s side.

Bristol Rovers are another team in form as they are in the middle of a four-game unbeaten streak and they would be disappointed to see this run end against bottom club Tranmere.

Rovers are 4/5 to claim the three points, while the visitors are 7/2 to land a first away win of the season.

Southampton are still 5/1 to win League One despite being nine points behind current leaders Brighton. See the whole League One winners betting odds market.
