Carlisle out to further frustrate Peterborough’s promotion bid

Published:

Peterborough will want to avoid falling numerous places down the League One table by ensuring that they leave with a result from their trip to Carlisle.

Both are currently placed in the play-off places, but with so few points separating many of the teams in the top half of the table, a defeat could see either drop out of the top ten in the standings.

Peterborough suffered defeat to Notts County in their last outing and will want to evade suffering back-to-back losses.

They are 17/10 to win away at Carlisle, which is a fixture that finished in an enthralling 3-3 draw last season.

Craig Mackail-Smith scored twice in that game and is 11/2 to open the scoring this season, with Carlisle 6/4 to win and maintain their unbeaten home record.

Colchester are also in the play-offs and will be eager to maintain their unbeaten League One start to the season at the MK Dons.

MK Dons are also yet to taste defeat at home with three wins and a draw from their four games and are 11/10 to beat Colchester.

The visitors have failed to win in any of their four League One trips to the MK Dons and are 12/5 to end this streak.

Two of the surprise packages in the upper echelons of the table are Exeter and Rochdale, who were facing each other in League Two in the not too distant past.

Meanwhile, the game pits a team unbeaten at home against one unbeaten away, which makes the 12/5 on offer for the draw slightly tempting.

Exeter are 11/8 to maintain their strong start at home with a victory, while a Rochdale win at 15/8 would give them a strong chance of climbing into the top two by the end of the game week.

Peterborough are 5/1 to win League One, while Colchester could be overpriced at 20/1. See the full League One winners betting odds market.
