Fallon to be out for another month after having hernia operation

Plymouth are set to be without Rory Fallon for another month as the New Zealand striker has undergone a hernia operation.

Fallon has missed Plymouth’s last two League One games, which have ended in defeat against Peterborough and Walsall, and it was initially believed that he had injured a groin.

However, further diagnosis revealed that he had a hernia and manager Peter Reid noted that he expected Fallon to not be available for the next month.

Fallon’s injury is a big blow to Plymouth as it was expected that they were planning to sell him during the transfer window because he is in the final year of his contract.

There is now the risk that he could leave for nothing when his contract expires next summer, unless terms can be agreed on a new deal.

Plymouth presently sit in the relegation places in League One after collecting just four points from the same number of games and are 33/1 to turn their form around and end the season at the top of the table.

Ensuring Fallon returns to full fitness and opens his account for the season will be key in achieving this ambition, with the 28-year-old 40/1 to be the top scorer in League One.

Meanwhile, Simon Walton has returned to Plymouth after a loan stint at Sheffield United.

Walton has had his loan agreement cancelled at the Championship side after injuring his cruciate knee ligaments during pre-season and his return will allow Blades boss Gary Speed to bring in another player on loan instead.
